Crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays

Has your tooth become so bad, discolored or broken that it is no longer possible to fill it? In that case we would advise you to get a crown, a bridge, an inlay or an onlay.

The crown

This is a 'cap' or a 'hollow tooth' that is cemented on top of the remaining part of a tooth. This type of restoration remains fixed in the mouth and does not need to be removed for cleaning.

We will decide on the best type of restoration depending on the condition of your teeth. The types most used by our team are the Zirconium and the All-ceramic crowns (see photograph below). Crowns are also placed on implants if your own tooth is missing.

The bridge

Usually a bridge consists of 3 or more crowns that are connected to each other to replace a lost tooth. The neighboring teeth are used to anchor the bridge. Bridges are made from zirconium oxide, which is extremely strong and durable.

Inlay & Onlay

This is a stronger, more durable and affordable alternative to composite fillings. They are made using computer technology and are very aesthetic. Part of the chewing surface of the tooth is replaced by a small ceramic block that is glued into the tooth. The result is a near invisible restoration!

If the surface to be restored covers more than half the surface of the tooth, an onlay is placed instead. This is actually a partial crown. An onlay is therefore larger than an inlay and is also made of porcelain or ceramic.
